Take three Madison artist’s private studio practices, pass the artistic “baton”, and create 36 unique works, each inspired by the previous piece, passed along in a Studio Relay format. Each work serves as a starting point for the next in line, with built in “disruptions” throughout the process. Through this relay system of exchange, artists Derrick Buisch, Bird Ross and Brenda Baker will create and display a visually dense and optically lush series of work that embodies a confluence of visual vocabularies. As midcareer artists with established styles, this project allows us to challenge, push and stretch our studio activities.
