Bird Ross and Tom Loeser collaborated on The Rest of the Forest for the 2004 project Forest Art Wisconsin which invited internationally recognized artists to the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest in Minocqua, Wisconsin to create art works that directly engage with the environment. This piece brings together Bird's and Tom's interest in seating, reclamation and the idea of returning to the forest what the forest provided in the first place: wood for the chairs. These perches are opportunitis for the weary to take a load off and a place to remember that the forest is a non-discriminating provider and host.
